Solo Queue Tier List

These tiers are for laning purposes ONLY, and do not include junglers. This list is completely subject to change, and I would like to hear your comments on what you think about certain heroes being at certain tiers and why. This is just an outline, and I will be changing the list in the next few days as I get the time.

Tier 1: OP Flavor of the month heroes who are firstpicked/firstbanned. These heroes are gamechanging, and have the ability to carry a team on their back: Twisted Fate, Eve, Vlad, Jarvan, Vayne, Alistar, Rumble.

Tier 2: Heroes that are strong, somewhat flavor of the month, but are usually not first picked/first banned. If you see one of these heroes in your game, it will probably be affecting the outcome of the game heavily. These heroes include Corki, Karthus, Urgot, Poppy, Irelia.

Tier 3: Heroes that are occasionally played by certain players and will almost NEVER be banned, but these heroes, if played right, have the ability to contribute to their team with the right playstyle. These heroes include Zilean, Swain, Malzahar, Blitzcrank, Nidalee, Annie.

Tier 4: Heroes that are usually picked 3rd-5th. These heroes can be swapped out for other heroes and your team really won't know the difference. Also, they will have less of an effect on the game than Tier 3 heroes: Janna, Soraka, Taric, Sona, Lee Sin, Caitlyn, Jax, Ryze, Singed, Cho'gath, Garen, Teemo, Akali.

Tier 5: Heroes that usually don't benefit the team. Anything these heroes can do, support, carry, cc, etc, another hero can do it better. These heroes have seen so little play lately that people almost forgot what moves they have, or really don't even care.

Heroes that are not included in any tiers and why:

1. Ashe - No escape/mobility, gets countered by tanky dps, only viable in tournament play.

But here rainman is talking about solo que. Not playing arranged 5's.

The champs listed above are mostly in the right place. I have my doubts about Vladimir. He is onliy good in certain team comps. He can easily be cc'ed and taken down very early in the fight and he also doesnt have as much burst damage as other AP champions have. Also, there are some hard counters to Vladimir like WW, Mordekaiser (only in lane), and Malzahar. These champions will easily shred Vladimir apart in the game and make it seem like there were better champions to choose from.

To not see Anivia in this list makes me sick though

Eve definitely not top tier anymore.

I'm going to make my own personal list of champions that I think are tournament worthy.

Meh, solo quene just do a pwnage AD/AP carry or be a jungler that can carry. For premade 5v5 I think the list below are best. - Alistar, Amumu, Anivia, Annie, Ashe, Corki, Gragas, Janna, Jarvan, Lee Sin, Malzahar, Nunu, Nidalee, Rammus, Rumble, Shen, Singed, Soraka, Swain, Taric, Twisted Fate, Udyr, Vayne, Veigar, Warwick, Zilean. These are the champions that I believe perform better then others on summoner's rift.

These aren't the only champions who should be picked. Some other champs could work well into a team comp, or other champions are good counterpicks to these champions.

Anyone want to argue a + or - to my 5v5 premade list?

hmm I dont know, Im not a big fan of tier lists tbh - playing a champion you are very good at are better than one ppl say is a good champion, imo

Pretty much what kass said. A champ you are good at is better than a tier 1 champ. We have all seen a tf who doesn't know what he is doing and he is at the top of every list.

I will say it will help your game a lot to learn tier 1 champs though, especially if you are going to start playing more competitively and especially in arranged 5's.

Also tier lists are fun to look at. Another site that has updated tier lists for all game modes is the reign of gaming website which has lists for 3v3 5v5 solo and arranged and jungle.

Hey, I play the most amazing Kat but no one ever wants me on kat in ranked because she is shut down to easily. Just because your amazing with a champion doesn't mean they should be played.

Eh, in high elo arranged, sure a kat is easily shut down. But even then, in solo queue or in a situation where u can counter pick their team because they have no stun, she is fine in my opinion.

Everyone gets obsessed with what sites like solomid and rog say about champs and think it applies to all elo ranges but it really doesn't. Sure kat can easily be shut down by a good player playing a char with a stun, but you yourself said you play the most amazing kat. You wouldn't be able to say that if you didn't stomp people with kat quite often. And your normal game elo should be around your ranked.

She lanes really well, and can often get ahead of the game and win it before team fights and where shutting her down really comes into play can even matter.

This thread applies to soloque, for arranged where there is a lot more teamwork and thought put into composition I would agree in not picking kat.....but then again kayle is making a comeback, wouldn't be surprised if before long you start seeing the old kayle combos again... Ie kayle on kat ult and you can no longer disable her.

when it comes to the tier list I think it only really matters when your team is bad or your carry is getting unlucky or whatever, because tier 1 champs can carry even when the rest of the team can't follow up. For instance, I play Singed and can generally dominate an entire team by myself with a few kills (he can't carry late game, though) but even if I get fed with Shaco I still need a team who can follow through so that I don't have to initiate and take damage (cause he can't take much damage). Basically higher tier champs make it easier to deal with anyone, but in high ELO synergy with your fellow champions is FAR more important than the tiers.

And if you play Kat and find you can't ult right... work around it. Get an amumu to ult before you, by the time they're unstunned you've done enough damage. Wait for them to initiate and blow their stuns. Maybe even get a banshees veil so that it takes TWO spells to stop you, perhaps two spells the enemy simply can't afford to waste on only you at the time. Heck, try ulting on the other side of a wall with your target still in range so that they won't be able to stun you. I haven't tried that personally, but I've healed champs with Janna through walls in order to be effective. And when all is said and done if the enemy team has too many ways to shut you down then Katarina just wasn't a good pick for that game composition wise.
